Project Spotlight: Anderson Island Septic Company

Upfront Septic performed a septic system inspection at a second home on Anderson Island, WA, to evaluate the condition and operation of the property's septic system. After comparing inspection and travel costs with other providers, the homeowner scheduled service with Upfront Septic through our price-match offer.

Upon arrival, our technicians located a two-compartment septic tank, a two-compartment pump tank, and the drainfield in the backyard. The entire system was equipped with risers extending approximately 16 inches below grade. Our team removed and inspected the effluent filter, which was found to be spotless, and cleaned it before reinstalling it.

To evaluate pump performance, technicians conducted a drawdown test and recorded two measurements of 51 inches and 57 inches, resulting in an average drawdown rate of 3 inches per minute. The high-level alarm was also tested and sounded as expected. The redundant float was tested as well, with the corresponding lights on the control panel illuminating during the test.

The pump was operating on a timer set for 43 seconds on and 4 hours and 1 minute off, with two-minute override on and off times. At the time of inspection, the septic system appeared to be functioning well, and no additional work was recommended based on the findings.

Routine inspections and maintenance can help homeowners monitor septic system performance and identify potential concerns before they develop into more significant issues.
