Upfront Septic was called to a Gig Harbor, WA property for septic tank pumping and an inspection of the system’s access points and connections. Upon arrival, our technicians located a two-compartment septic tank in the backyard. The tank did not have risers, and root intrusion was present at all main access openings.
During the inspection, our technicians identified roots entering the tank around the inlet connection, where the main sewer line meets the tank, and around the outlet connection, where the transport line exits the tank. These openings will require resealing to help prevent further root intrusion and protect the integrity of the system’s connections.
Our team used a CrustBuster to break up the accumulated solids before pumping approximately 1,125 gallons from the septic tank. The existing effluent filter was damaged, so it was replaced during the visit. Before leaving, our technicians asked the customer to flush the plumbing fixtures and confirmed that the wastewater flowed through strongly.
Additional work is recommended to improve access to the septic tank and address the identified sealing issues. The planned follow-up includes installing three 24-inch risers and two 12-inch risers, resealing the mainline connection, and resealing the transport line connection. These repairs will help provide more accessible maintenance points and reduce opportunities for roots to enter the system.
