When a portable restroom was overturned during a J. Cole concert at Lumen Field, sewage entered the field’s french drain system, creating a serious contamination and odor issue. With sewage on the field and the NFL season opener barely a week away, the Seahawks had to call on their 12th man! Upfront Septic was called in to safely access the drainage system, remove the contaminated material, and restore the affected drain and catch basin.
Harman Kaler, our co-owner and a Master Septic Installer, carried out this job himself. We removed the french drain cover to reach the drainage channel, then hydrojetted it to push the contaminants along to the catch basin. The catch basin was pumped out, and we hydrojetted the run a further six times.
With that cleared, we sanitized and chemically cleaned both the drain and the catch basin, then hydrojetted another five times. We did so many hydrojettings to ensure that the run was completely clean and the sewage odor was totally removed, so nobody has to smell week-old sewage at next week’s game!
