Upfront Septic provided residential septic tank pumping and inspection services for a property in University Place, WA. Upon arrival, our technician located the two-compartment septic tank in the backyard. The system is equipped with risers on all access points except the outlet.
During excavation and inspection, we found that the transport line at the outlet was completely submerged. This indicated that the septic tank was in a flooded state and showed early signs that the drainfield may be struggling to properly accept effluent. We recommended drainfield maintenance to help address the issue and protect the system from further problems.
The inlet and outlet baffles appeared to be in good condition. However, root intrusion was found in both compartments around the areas where the risers connect to the septic tank. These areas may require additional sealing to help prevent further root intrusion and protect the tank connections.
Our technician crust busted the tank and pumped approximately 1,125 gallons of wastewater and solids. After pumping, we performed a small stress test to evaluate the system's ability to accept and move effluent. The effluent returned within approximately one minute. The customer was also asked to flush a toilet before our technician left, and the flush came through the system strongly.
The tank was successfully pumped and the system was tested before completion. Upfront Septic recommends proactive drainfield maintenance and addressing the root intrusion around the riser connections to help maintain the system's performance and extend its service life.
