Upfront Septic provided a residential septic system inspection for a homeowner in Spanaway, WA. Upon arrival, our technician located the two-compartment septic tank in the backyard. The system is equipped with risers, providing access to the tank for inspection and future maintenance.
During the inspection, we identified gaps where the risers meet the septic tank. A gap was visible at the inlet riser connection, and similar gaps were found around the other risers. These openings should be resealed to help prevent groundwater, debris, and other unwanted materials from entering the septic system.
Root intrusion was also observed around the risers serving both the first and second compartments. Based on the condition of the connections, Upfront Septic recommends resealing all of the risers to improve the integrity of the tank and help prevent additional root intrusion.
The septic tank did not appear to require pumping at the time of the inspection. Before leaving the property, our technician asked the homeowner to flush a toilet to verify system flow. The flush came through strongly, providing a positive indication of the system's current flow performance.
The inspection was completed without pumping, with riser resealing recommended as the primary maintenance item identified during the visit.
