Project Spotlight: Lakebay Septic Inspections

Upfront Septic visited a property in Lakebay, WA, after the homeowner experienced gurgling and slow drainage when multiple household appliances were running the previous day. Upon arrival, our technicians found that the single-compartment septic tank was at its normal operating level. An obstruction was identified in the inlet, but it cleared with flushing.

Further inspection revealed several concerns that may affect the system's performance. Cracks were beginning to form in the tank floor, and the outlet baffle had a large hole on its side at the level of the transport line. Solid debris was also present in the transport line, raising concerns about a possible blockage.

To investigate drainage conditions, our technicians performed a brief stress test using a garden hose. Water immediately backed up, suggesting a potential obstruction in the line. A larger piece of debris may be restricting flow and will require further investigation.

Recommended follow-up work includes replacing the damaged outlet baffle, performing septic tank maintenance, and evaluating the drainfield for maintenance needs. Addressing the damaged components and investigating the suspected blockage can help identify the cause of the drainage issues and determine what repairs are needed to support reliable septic system operation.

Woodinville Septic Inspections

A Woodinville inspection with the high-level alarm already sounding. The timer settings had been changed and the alarm float had come off the float tree, so the alarm could not do its job. Both tanks need pumping, and three 24-inch risers are planned to make future access easier.

Spanaway

Spanaway Septic Inspection

A Spanaway inspection that turned up gaps where the risers meet the tank, at the inlet connection and around the others, with root intrusion at both compartments. The tank did not need pumping, and a toilet flushed before we left came through strongly. Resealing all the risers is the recommendation.

Tacoma Septic Tank Pumping and Inspection

A Tacoma tank that had gone a long time without being pumped. The customer had opened the first compartment; we excavated the second to reach the whole tank, crust busted through a heavy build-up of solids, and pumped approximately 1,125 gallons — a job that took considerably longer than usual because of the condition inside.

A two-compartment tank in University Place with risers on every access point but the outlet. The transport line at the outlet was completely submerged, pointing at a drainfield beginning to struggle, and root intrusion was found where the risers meet the tank. We pumped approximately 1,125 gallons and stress tested the system.
