After becoming dissatisfied with their previous septic service company, a homeowner in Gig Harbor, WA decided to give Upfront Septic a try for their routine septic pumping and maintenance. During the visit, our technician also performed an O&M inspection to evaluate the condition and operation of the system.
Upon opening the trash tank, we found a gap where the mainline pipe connects to the tank. The inlet baffle was otherwise in good condition, while the outlet baffle also appeared to be in good condition. There were no signs of major deterioration in the tank walls or floors. Upfront Septic recommends resealing the mainline connection to help prevent unwanted water or root intrusion.
The trash tank was crust busted and approximately 500 gallons were pumped. We also inspected the system's electrical components and found that the F1 two-amp fuse in the junction box had blown. After replacing the fuse, it immediately blew again, indicating an underlying electrical issue that will require further troubleshooting.
The ATU tank was also inspected, and the water appeared clean. The ACU tank and pump tank were sufficiently clean and did not require pumping at this time. A drawdown test was performed, with measurements of 54.5 inches and 58.5 inches, resulting in an average drawdown of approximately 2 inches per minute.
The service provided the homeowner with routine pumping, an O&M inspection, and a detailed assessment of the system's current condition. Upfront Septic recommends addressing the mainline connection and investigating the electrical issue identified during the inspection.
